Folded rather than turned — the creases run down the shade so the glaze pools and thins along each ridge, and the piece picks up highlights that a smooth cone never would. At nine inches it is a companion fixture: two or three in a line, or one over a bedside table.
The crease detail is formed by hand at the slip stage, which is why the fold pattern varies slightly piece to piece.
