Lacrime del Pescatore, the Tears of the Fisherman, began on the waters of the Venice Lagoon. Ingo Maurer saw fishermen’s nets covered in thousands of water droplets, sparkling in the early morning sun, and three decades later, in 2009, turned the memory into light: three layered nylon nets of different sizes, hung with 385 crystals.
The light comes from a separate spot mounted on the wall, so no ceiling outlet is needed. Even by day, in sun-filled rooms, the nets glitter and throw shimmering reflections across walls and surfaces. Several pieces together become an impressive, poetic installation, as Studio Citterio showed above the bar of The Spoon at the Byblos Hotel in St. Tropez.
